OVERVIEW

Crowdfunding refers to raising a small amount of money from a large number of people to finance a project, cause or business, generally via the internet.

TI participated in the design process of a startup that wanted to launch a new app in the cloud funding market as a volunteer and carried out the course from research to final design.
This application needs to offer ways for fast funding, and also backers allow them to go ahead with the funding as they want.

I study and research about the current trend or market situation. I defined crowdfunding market as 4 keywords. 

First, the market is rapidly growing up. Second, the success of the each campaign it is decided in a short time, for backers. Third thing, Despite of the growing market, the success of the campaign is small, and should be supported by a number of backers. Forth, We need to use a way to appeal to the target. After understanding market, I search typical Persona for each side.

I researched the crowdfunding applications in the market and analyzed these. I figured out what's in common across all applications. I found that most of them were using Facebook's existing data, and used a number of social networks as a way of promoting it.

INSIGHTS AND DESIGN SOLUTIONS​

What is the identity that our crowdfunding app, which is entering a new market, has to take with? By analyzing results, I drew a diagram to sort out my Insight and Solution. From a point of creator view, the purpose is to make high-performing campaigns and to make maximized participation in the backer side. For achieving for these purposes, For creator, our application supports campaign ROI enhanced tool. For example, the best projects suggestion for references, project templates per category based on our internal collected data.

The current real target for crowdfunding is the innovator group. But, to succeed in this market, the pie in the user group must be expanded. The target user range must be increased from the Innovator to the Earl majority group. In order to do this, each target needs to understand the needs of its users and map out a strategy. For increasing the innovator group, my solution is to make an interactive communication channel with the creator because they are active participants. And For enhancing early adopters’ reaction rate, we display highly curated suggestions with interests.

In order to increase our user group, we need to increase target group to Early Majority, but I think using an existing platform, we can recommend similar products in the rocket place when users view the products they want in online-market will be a good way to attract their curiosity and get them into the app.

RESULTS

Here are some key features, which I suggest to quickly reach the funding goals :
The creator side has to get some functions that support planning & designing high-performing campaigns that introduce their projects.
On the backer side, it maximizes participation in funding by exposing projects that are highly related to interests to expand the base of the backer side with the early-majority segment beyond the innovator.
Also, during the funding period, I suggest the Live Chat function, which enables vivid interactive communication between the creator and potential backers, to maximize the efficiency of the process of explaining the project.
